Family Resource Center/Ronald McDonald Family Room at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children
Located on the third floor of A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, the center, opening in February 2008, will provide a space to help families with seriously or chronically ill or injured children to fully participate in their child’s care while staying connected to their social and work communities. The new center will feature a common living room area where families can relax outside of their child’s hospital. The Family Resource Center/Ronald McDonald Family Room will also offer a business center where adults can check in on work, a medical library, and conference rooms/labs where families can consult with doctors about treatments for their children.

Christiana Hospital
The Ronald McDonald Family RoomŪ is a special place for families with infants receiving treatment in the special care nursery at Christiana Hospital. Families from Delaware and the tri-state area use the room. The Family Room includes a comfort area, kitchenette, and a playroom that is staffed with volunteers daily. Light snacks are available when the room is staffed. Volunteers welcome families, provide childcare and support. Parents can leave older children in the care of volunteers while spending time with their newborns in the nursery. From a monitor in the Comfort Area, siblings and other family members can view babies in the nursery. Parents, siblings and extended family now have a place to be close to their newest family member.

Kent
General Hospital
The Ronald McDonald Family RoomŪ at the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital is a
warm and inviting place for families with infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit. Included is a comfortable sitting area, a small kitchenette, a playroom
for siblings and a computer station. The area is staffed by volunteers who welcome
and support the families. In addition, they provide childcare to older siblings
while family members spend time with infants in the NICU. Snacks are available
for guests. Sleeping accommodations are available in the Family Room for parents
who need to stay close to their baby.
